- A care visit at a distance, using video, a call, or an online exchange.
Prepare for the conversation
Note the problem, your attempts to address it, and the questions you would like answered. Have your medicine list nearby. Ask how to share any records you want the clinician (the health professional evaluating your problem) to see.
Ask for their name and role. Find out whether the visit is live or whether they will read your answers later.
If the screen is not enough
A doctor must organize needed tests or refer you for them, under the same board guidance. A problem requiring an examination in the room also calls for a visit in person.
Board guidance checked: September 17, 2026.
Ask where that would happen, who would arrange it, and what it would cost.
Before the visit ends
- What did the assessment find?
- What care options are being considered?
- Do I need a test or an in-person visit?
- How can I ask a question later?
- Who handles follow-up?
